Opening balance for research dedicated to the development of tourism based on selected hydro power plants in Lodz region

Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is to determine the prospects for tourism development at hydroelectric facilities in the Lodz region, as well as outline the policy framework for the development of this type of tourism product. The inspiration to take the issues was the increasing number of hydropower plants (also in the Lodz region), their importance in the context of environmental protection, the production of energy without producing exhaust fumes and ashes, and location (often found in natural and attractive tourist destination). These sites can become an opportunity not only to visit, but also of the broader education in the field of environmental protection and renewable energy sources (children, adolescents and adults - businessmen, skeptics, opponents and supporters), which can contribute to sustainable development.
