Summary/Abstract: Geographical proximity, common historical roots and collaboration within the Nordic Council make the nordic countries, often wrongly treated as monolits. However, in reality, nordic regions difter in terms of broadly defined social and economic development. The main aim of this study is to analyze the standard of living differentiation among NUTS-3 nordic regions in the period 2006-2014. The standard of living was measured using the spatial taxonomy measure of development proposed by Pietrzak. Taking into account the spatial relationships seemed reasonable, since 9 out of 18 variables were spatially autocorrelated. The analysis showed that the regions with the highest standard of living were those situated on the west coast of Norway and the regions with the lowest standard of living were regions located in central Finland. The analysis of the coefficient of variation showed that there was a difference between the analyzed regions, but the coefficient of variation value decreased from 19% in 2006 to 17% in 2014.
