Summary/Abstract: The article (the starting point which is sociological problems of social role) outlines specific region of Upper Silesia as a region encouraging traditional division of roles between genders, especially until 1989, as well as Upper Silesia seen from today’s perspective in which the traditional boundaries give way to an egalitarian relationship between husband and wife (or partners).
