Methodological assumptions for benchmark analysis of airports

Summary/Abstract: Airports, which constitute one of the vital components of the air transport system, have to meet increasingly sophisticated demands of competitiveness. One of the analytical methods used to isolate significant factors influencing the level of competitiveness of an airport is competitive benchmarking. The issue of the benchmarking of airports is a complex one that requires study and analysis. Benchmarking allows comparative studies of the effective use of airports’ competitive potential. The article discusses methodological assumptions and typologies of benchmarking, as well as lists the needs and requirements of this type of research for the benefit of airports in the contemporary air transportation market.
