The concept of operational efficiency measuring in hospital

Summary/Abstract: Growing health needs associated with the lengthening of life, and the increasing public awareness about modern methods of treatment often meet a barrier of insufficient funds in the budget of health care system. This implies a rational use of limited resources and the need to measure the effectiveness of their use. Hospitals in Poland receive income primarily from contracts with National Health Fund, so it is important that public funds are spent carefully, especially since the National Health Fund earmarks for hospital treatment almost 50% of all money. The aim of this paper is to propose a method for measuring and evaluating the operational efficiency of hospitals. Based on the analysis of literature a clinical and associated with management measures of the entity medicinal performance are proposed. In the paper the method of literature research is used, and indicators − measures of achievement are proposed.
