PROŠIRENI PARTICIPSKI ATRIBUTI U NJEMAČKOM I NJIHOVI EKVIVALENTI U B/H/S JEZIKU
EXTENDED PARTICIPIAL ATTRIBUTES IN GERMAN AND THEIR EQUIVALENTS IN THE B/C/S LANGUAGE

Summary/Abstract: Although German participles are verb forms, because of their distribution and function they belong between verbs and other word classes since they have all the characteristics of adjectives, for example in their function of an attribute. The participles in the function of an attribute, or extended participle attributes with the participle I or participle II and their translation equivalents in the B/C/S language are the subject of this analysis. Extended participial attributes are complex syntactic structures that are positioned within the noun phrase between the determinative and the noun and this role of participles represents one of the specific features of the German language. The equivalent structures in the B/C/S language have significant formal differences which are analyzed and presented in this paper. The contrastive analysis is based on the literature corpus and the illustrative examples are taken from the German weekly magazines Focus and Spiegel.
