Introductory Remarks

Summary/Abstract: This is the first issue of the Yearbook of the Law Department of New Bulgarian University. It is the successor of the Academic periodical “Legal Review” issued in the period 1996 - 2011. In the Yearbook the reader can find important and up-to-date works of the members of the department analyzing current issues in all areas of modern law - International Law, EU Law, Criminal Law, Civil Law, Public Law, etc. Besides, the introduction also presents briefly the basic events from the day-to-day work of the Department as well review of some recent publications by some of its members. Finally, 2012 was also marked by a very sad event, the death of the member of the Department since 1996 Associate Professor Vanyushka Angusheva, Ph.D. (20.11.1939 - 19.4.2012). The impact of this loss continues to be strongly felt. Her academic heritage still accompanies us in our work in a very concrete manner. The members of the Department dedicate this Yearbook in memoriam to our distinguished colleague Associate Professor Vanyushka Angusheva.
