Review of the Developments of the Law Department of New Bulgarian University in 2013

Summary/Abstract: This is the second annual issue of the Yearbook of the Law Department of New Bulgarian University. This novel periodical is the successor of the Academic periodical ‘Legal Review’ issued in the period 1996 - 2011. In the Yearbook the reader can find important and up-to-date academic works of the members of the Law Department providing an in-depth legal analysis of current issues in all branches of contemporary law - International Law, EU Law, Criminal Law, Civil Law, Public Law, etc. In the introductory overview of the activities of the Law Department in 2013 the basic events from the day-to-day work of the Department are briefly presented. A special emphasis is put on the introduction in its curriculum of a new lecture course in Public Roman Law. Besides, in this overview some of the recent publications by members of the department are presented as well as a summary of their participation in various academic events in 2013. Finally, mention is made to the activities of the Depart- ment with regard to the anniversaries of important legal instruments. Among these were the public lectures and discussion on 27.11.2013 with regard to the 94th anniversary of the signature of the Treaty of Peace between the Principal Allied and Associated Powers and Bulgaria and Protocol, signed at Neuilly-sur-Seine at November 27, 1919 and the public lectures and discussion on 11.12.2013, noting the 65th Anniversary of the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights, adopted on 10.12.1948.
