Summary/Abstract: Democracy, human rights and the protection of minorities in Romaniaare essential criteria for the accession of Romania to the European Union.The European Union pays special attention to the rights of Roma minorities,as evidenced by the country reports of the European Commission in Brussels. Thesereports the progress made by Romania in adopting legislation andpolicies on the rights of the Roma minority. The Romanian state applies a whole strategyin this area, supported by laws, funding and institutions,collaboration with Roma organizations.
