Summary/Abstract: This article substantiate the thesis that the expulsion of the Bulgarians from Adrianopolitan Thrace (Eastern Thrace or Vilayet of Adrianople) is a strategic objective of the Ottoman Empire for the entire period that occurs in various forms, methods and means. They evolved from economic and administrative pressure to mass violence and attempted genocide. It is a deliberate policy of ethnic cleansing of a strategic area for which the Sublime Porte after 1878 no doubt that in the foreseeable future will become a major operational theater in the inevitable war between the Ottoman Empire and Bulgaria. On this Ottoman policy opposes Bulgaria, which does everything possible to preserve the Bulgarians from Eastern Thrace in their hometowns, as justification for national unity in ethnic, historical and strategic borders. The author give your special attention to the Ilinden-Preobrazhenie Uprising of 1903. On the idea of its leaders is a form of armed protest against this Ottoman policy, which can be defined as a “creeping” genocide. After the uprising in Bulgaria arrived about 30 000 refugees, of which 2/3 are from Eastern Thrace. Bulgarian government urges the Sublime Porte for their repatriation. Under Turkish-Bulgarian agreement on March 26, 1904 it became possible and the majority of refugees in the coming years are back. Formally, the Young Turk Revolution in 1908 and proclaimed constitutional rights create conditions for cessation of refugee movement of Bulgarians from Eastern Thrace. Soon, however, the Young Turks take actions that push back the Bulgarians in the way of Refugee. Balkan War, which ended with the Treaty of London (30 May 1913) practically decided the Thracian question in favor of Bulgaria. Second Balkan War, however, allows the Ottoman Empire only a few days to do that which it is seeking for 35 years – a final decision by the means and methods of ethnic cleansing and genocide.
