Summary/Abstract: Thе current study explores the placement of a child in another country as a measure of protection and manifistation of child protection principle. It analyzes the scope of the concept 'placement' in Regulation No 2201/2003, the Hague Convention on Parental Responsibility and the application of the provisions in national practice (of the Republic of Bulgaria, of other Member States and of the Contracting States to the Hague Convention) and the Court of Justice of the European Union. In the course of the study, are made proposals for amendments in the provisions of Regulation (EC) No 2201/2003, and also are analyzed the proposed amendments in a draft amending it.
