Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes the eauvre of Max Band (1900–1974), a prominent Litvak painter and sculpture. It discusses the main turining points of his artistic development, the sources of his artistic immages and pecularities of his creative means and working style. Band studied painting in Lithuania and perfected his skills in a private Art Accademy in Paris (1920-1923). When the WW II started, he emigrated to the USA. Here Band painted compositions, landscapes, illustrations for the Bible, and made sculptures. In his eauvre, the scenes of everyday Jewish life dominates. He is also known as a master portraitist of children. His painting style is charakterised as post-impressionist and expressionist. He prefered milde and warm tint of bluish, redish, and greyish.
