Summary/Abstract: After the change of empires, the Hungarian minority living around Lendava (Lendva) – as well as in the historic Zala County and in the new South Slav State – found itself in a peculiar situation. As part of the westernmost and most developed member state of the Former Yugoslavia, the third generation of this minority has a special national consciousness in Slovenia. The aim of our study is to present the circumstances that led to the current situation. With the help of a questionnaire survey, we offer a comprehensive picture of the situation of present-day Hungarians living in Prekmurje.
