Summary/Abstract: The article considers Indian and Islamic traditions of miniature painting in the territory of Hindustan Peninsula after the Arab Muslim conquest. It analyzes styles of various regional painting schools and their interactions from 16th to 19th century. It concentrates mostly on the inquiry of Moghul court miniature painting tradition and its relations with Persian painting traditions. Also it touches upon Hindu and Jain art tradition in Rajasthan (Rajput miniature painting) and North India highland regions (Guleira and Kangra painting schools).
