Summary/Abstract: In the literature, human capital frequently refers to knowledge, skills, health and socio-economic activities of individuals or groups of people. There is no, however, explicitly identified impact of human capital on regional economic development. The purpose of this article is to present the human capital resources in Poland in 2007-2010 by province. The data used in the calculations have been made available by the CSO. Human capital resources are calculated based on the Human Development Index using the following factors: labour force participation, employment, entrepreneurship, and education. Based on these calculations, the greatest resources of human capital in the reporting period were stored in the Mazowieckie Voivodeship. The capital city of Warsaw had primarily impact on this situation (development of enterprises, low unemployment rate, education level of the population). On the other hand, the lowest level of human capital resources was recorded in Warmia and Mazury Province, which had been affected principally by low economic activity, high unemployment rate and low values of entrepreneurship index.
