Summary/Abstract: An aim of considerations is to show the process of the demographic transformations occurring at the regional and local level as an important factor determining the possibility to achieve an economic growth of the region as well as creating its innovative ability. For the purpose of assessment of the degree of spatial differentiation of the demographic processes in Poland, the author analysed the changes occurring in the age structure of the population, with a particular consideration of the share of people of the post-production age, in formation of the level of demographic burdens. As the analytical ground there was adopted the investigation of differences in level of the measures describing the demographic tendencies at the level of particular provinces in Poland. In the assessment of the degree of differentiation of the demographic processes, there were additionally used CSO forecasts concerning both the life expectancy and the quantitative and structural changes occurring in the populations investigated.
