Summary/Abstract: An aim of considerations is to determine the place and importance of the business intelligence among the tools for acquiring, processing and analysing market information as well as to assess the importance of business intelligence for enterprise management. The subject matter of analysis is sources and kinds of information acquired by the enterprise and cooperation of enterprises with intelligence services providers. The grounds for the aim achievement were available materials from secondary sources as well as findings of qualitative research and quantitative survey on the business intelligence carried out in the second and third quarters of 2014. Participants of the qualitative research in the form of two focus groups were entrepreneurs representing firms of various sizes (micro, small, medium, and large) and activities (production and services). In the quantitative survey, there were collected opinions from 74 enterprises of various sizes representing various sectors of the economy. In their article of the research nature, the authors presented the essence of business intelligence, its place among the sources and tools of business information acquisition as well as respondents’ opinions on the issue of business intelligence and its usefulness in enterprise management.
