Summary/Abstract: An aim of the article is to identify the scale and structure of investments carried out by commercial enterprises with foreign capital share and to determine their impact on trade in consumer goods in Poland. The subject matter of analysis is the volume, dynamics and structure of investment outlays as well as the number and dynamics of shops and warehouses and their structure by the size and form of trade. The analysis also covered soft effects of investments, i.e. trade organisation and private label development. In order to determine the impact of investments carried out by enterprises with foreign capital on trade in Poland the author carried out a comparative analysis of the state and structure of tangible assets of foreign and national commercial enterprises, the way the firms are organised, and management of the sphere of purchases and sales. The analysis comprised the years 2008-2013. The basis for the analyses was CSO’s data (the recent available are from the year 2013) as well as other materials from secondary sources (articles, papers, Internet’s resources) and own surveys on the organisation of retail and wholesale trade.
