Summary/Abstract: This article raises important issues regarding security aspects in the mountains. In this assessment, we have analysed casualty statistics and rescue operations carried out in Polish Tatra Mountains in the years 2006-2011. The main aim of this study was to analyse casualty statistics and rescue operations done in Polish Tatra Mountains in the chosen years for our survey and above all stressing the rapid growth of changes occurring in relation to casualty statistics in the region in question. In our assessment, we have applied the analysis of the documents made available to us by the courtesy of Polish Tatra Mountains Voluntary Rescue Team. The parametres resulting largely from these statistics, focussed the main attention on assessment of the overall sum of casualty figures in each separate year, as well as death accidents, serious and slight injuries and rescue operations carried out so far.
