Summary/Abstract: The systematic changes in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as in all countries of the socialist world during the period of their transition, have a direct, more or less negative, reflections on the state of the archival materials, and on the archive activities in general. Many questions of archive materials are "open" to them; those questions spring from the part which was established in the previous system, and from the part which has been formulated as a reflection of the new relations within the society. Considering the circumstances that those changes were created in the conditions of war (aggression) and its consequences, all those questions are made even further more complex in the transition of the society of Bosnia and Herzegovina and its archive activity. The role of the state is essential for their solution. Nevertheless, it is a task of archival branch of business and its science to perceive those questions on time, to examine them with subtlety, and to shape their solutions in the structure which could become liable legal criterion. Following those procedures, the necessary framework and proper azimuth in the finding of solutions to the burning questions of archival activity are given, and their success is directly dependent on realisation of necessary material and personnel assumptions.
