Summary/Abstract: This study proposes a statistical presentation of the first stock corporations in the Old Realm from the moment of their appearance till the beginning of the XIXth century. The analysis presents a synthesis of the dates offered by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce in the Statistical Yearbook of Romania and in the Statistic of the stock corporations from Romania. We can mention few important steps in the appearance of the commercial societies: the Commercial Code issued in 1887, “Dacia” being the first insurance society founded in Bucharest in 1871, “Economy Bank from Focşani” (1874) and “The Discount Bank and Money barrowing (1876). The years 1900-1914 marked a general progress of the industry and a flourishing of the system of stock corporations: a lot of solid banks appeared, commercial and estate agencies consolidated their activities and a lot of small enterprises constituted under the form of stock corporations. Only after the First World War the number of stock corporations grew constantly and represented an important impulse for the general development of the economic plan.
