REGIONAL DISTRICT MANAGEMENT REFORM - SUSTAINABLE REGIONAL AND LOCAL DEVELOPMENT

Summary/Abstract: This article presents the need of review and assessment of the existing legislation with a view to bringing the powers and obligations of the District Governor in compliance with the governance and managerial activity, while following the principles of efficiency and accessibility through a reform at district level. Strengthening the role at regional and district level of governance by providing the District Governors with stronger leverage so as to ensure a more efficient correlation between the individual sector policies and the regional policy aimed at sustainable regional and local development, reduction of the inter-regional disparities and optimisation of the administrative services.
