Summary/Abstract: There are plenty of factors affecting the foreign language process. Among the factors like choosing the right method and environment, learners’ first language, teachers’ dedication individual learner differences have a vital importance in deciding success or failure in foreign language learning. Although there is a consensus about the role of individual differences, there is a quagmire in identifying, describing and classifying these factors. The present paper provides an overview of the most significant differences like age, intelligence, aptitude, learning styles and strategies, motivation and anxiety among others. It also describes the various classifications done by researchers of the field.
