Summary/Abstract: Starting from special importance and constant questioning of the relationship between ethics and politics, this paper attempts to analyze the problem through tripartite settings (ethics-morality- politics) of Paul Ricoeur. His approach is compared with the concept of Max Weber, which is based on the distinction between ethic of conviction (absolute ethics) and ethic of responsibility (critical political ethics), i. e. on the distinction between the ethical integrity of belief and engagement and ethical integrity of action and consequences. Ricoeur’s conceptual solution is that politics belongs to morality, and that ethics provides a way to criticize the morality. The main idea is that the radical political changes at the level of placement of new values can be expected from an realm outside the sphere of morality and politics, a realm of extravagant ethics.
