Summary/Abstract: The article analyses the influence of a particular name on the individual's life and the developmentof his script. It contains the examples taken from psychotherapeutic practice and the resultsof the study conducted on a group of students, which reveal that most of them believe that theirname have been chosen purposefully (56,4%). Thus, it can be assumed that when parents chosenames for their children, they have a concrete intention in mind, which may include the performanceof certain tasks, the pressure to adopt certain roles or the expectations of certain behaviours.All this leads to the development of a particular life script.
