Summary/Abstract: This article deals with the ethno-village and position this type of touristic attraction holds in social reality. This type of touristic settlement is one of the best examples of how the tradition is inscribed into commodity. Primary objective of ethno-village is production of nostalgia or mourning for something that never happened. As an option of escape from city life and modernity, ethno-village offers what a modern man lacks, idyllic rural life, intimate relation¬ships, nature, and tradition which modern urban man has forgotten. Goal of this article is to point out basic social functions of ethno-village and ways in which modern tourist experiences this sort of touristic attraction.
