Summary/Abstract: The article presents the organization and constitutions of the first synod in Brazil and his importance for the evangelization of Brazil in 18th century. The synodal constitutions of archbishop Sebastião Monteiro da Vide were an important element in the process of realization of the Tridentine Council teaching in Brazil until the proclamation of the Republic in 1889. In the beginning it has been outlined an organization of the ecclesiastical structures in 18th century in Brazil. Then we portrait the organization and procedures of the synod. Next we focus on the constitutions and that of their decisions which promoted effectively the evangelization during the colonial period in Brazil.
