Summary/Abstract: Emil Brumaru is a poet of the domestic universe. His work shows a taste for enclosed spaces, for kitchens, and a fascination with minor things that are not usually considered poetic. Brumaru’s poems can also be considered a reaction to the totalitarian politics imposed by the communist party in Romania. The reader becomes addicted to his poetry, in which the word “taboo” does not fit. The volume "Comedia dell’arte" is a mixture of erudition, vulgarity, and erotic games. The metaphors he uses are always vibrant, dominated by culinary terms. In his poetry the soul is “oily”, and houses have “doors made of oil”. His poetry is an improvisation, a continuous game in which common things become objects of his fascination. Emil Brumaru is a poet who moves backwards and forwards between eroticism and culinary delights. The limits of art itself are challenged, the reader asking himself if he reads the verses written by a mad lover.
