Old reality of the village in a linguistic and cultural view of contemporary village

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the paper is to establish a link between the past of the village and the linguistic, culturaland social structure of the contemporary village. The dialect utterances used in the article as thespeech material point to a heavy tendency to attach value judgements to the past, on the one hand,and to compare and contrast it with the present, on the other. The link with the past is expressedby temporal indicators of time, the sequence of events and evaluative qualificators embedded inthe following types of stories: agrarian, folk, symbolic, religious, religious and pagan as well ascultural and superstitious. The clear-cut opposition between “previously – now” shows the connectionwith the old times and intensifies the notion of time and allows to notice the ongoing changesand identify cultural differences between the old and modern village.
