Regional Linguistic and Cultural Heritage in Educational Area

Summary/Abstract: The text deals with the use of cultural heritage of a region in school education. It is present in the richness of both material and spiritual village culture. The paper also presents the role of “a little homeland” as a place of a cultural intergenerational dialogue linking the present and the past. The emphasis is on the local dialect which constitutes a relevant element of identity and regional distinctiveness. Exemplification material includes legends, prophecies and folk names characterized by an array of label-generating mechanisms which result from the villager’s way of interpreting the world and their value system.
