Summary/Abstract: The range of services offered in public administration and the time and cost performance to a large extent depend on the degree of computerization and adaptation of information systems to cooperate and to exchange data (interoperability). Applicable laws and adopted strategic documents are also important. These factors have a big impact on the quality of electronic services. The paper discusses the problems arising, inter alia, from the scale of information technology projects undertaken and the need to ensure the interoperability of systems, not only within the country, but also in Europe and across the world. The cross-border and international nature of the various areas of activity forces development of solutions and standards in consultation with other countries and international organizations, which is the source of many difficulties. Currently there is a strong emphasis on the development of e-government. Ensuring a high level of security and building confidence in new information and communication technologies is a key element of economic and social development through the use of e-services. The fear of loss of privacy and data (personal, financial, medical) causes a lot of people to become discouraged from using the possibilities offered by new technologies. The paper discusses the main problems in the deployment of e-services and the key tasks for the state to implement the adopted strategies and tasks related to the digitization of the country. The digitization of the state is essential to ensuring good condition for the development of digital literacy and the access of all citizens to high-speed Internet. Public administration websites should comply with the requirements of ISO/IEC 40500:2012 (fulfilling recommendations WCAG 2.0). The paper also presents the results of a questionnaire study on ICT.
