Summary/Abstract: The article's aim is to show the stages of development of child care. Forms of assistance have evolved over the centuries. Initially, children deprived of parental care were placed at the mercy of people of good will. Society did not create organized forms of care for the child. Analysis of the various stages of development shows how much has changed in this regard for the benefit of children. The current forms of aid can be defined as specialized institutions employing professionals, funded by the state.
