Summary/Abstract: The phenomenon of generating scientific and technical terminology is neither new nor little studied, as it has been of interest for both linguists and technical experts. The field of information technology (IT) is one area within which newly emerged notions have to be labeled, most frequently in English. In time, this has been conducive to the appearance of a wide number of one- or more than one-word terms. The paper discusses the issues connected with providing the Romanian version(s) of such terms, mostly from the pragmatic perspective of an English for Specific Purposes (ESP) teacher whose objective is to raise the students’ awareness on translation issues. A range of activities have been designed and used in class with the support of the Computer Science students. Their presentation and rationale are given as a case study generating more food for thought.
