Summary/Abstract: The article tries to analyze few aspects of the contemporary ICT – the stable growth rate and the total penetration in business and in all fields of life; the increasing importance of knowledge processing to data and communication processing; the change in the role and significance of the information technologies for the people’s business and life; the importance of Internet as a materialization of contemporary ICT and as a catalyst for their development. Author’s main thesis is as follows: IT play a decisive role in the contemporary business – in practice we can not imagine today a successful business without a suitable IT support. Initially this trend showed in the big companies, but now it is rapidly spread among the small and medium size enterprises. The more the ICT develop, the more the dependent on technologies the business becomes. This requires a fast re-tuning of the ways the IT are adopted, those ones which help the business to develop, grow and transform. Therefore well-considered urgent actions orientated to the use of Web potential, the systems for business analyses (Business Intelligence, BI), the social networks and the change in interaction with the clients, the unified communications and IT outsourcing are needed.
