Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is the imperative analysis of two Slavonic Gospels: the firstcomplete printed edition of the Church Slavonic Bible – The Ostrog Bible (1581) and the18thcentury altar Gospel (1771) printed in Kiev Pechersk Lavra but kept in Orthodox monasteryin Jabłeczna (south-east Poland). The comparison of these two texts on linguistic level permits to ascertain, that over twohundred years Church Slavonic imperative forms have changed. While The Ostrog Bibleis settled in Cyrilo-Methodian writing tradition, the younger Jabłeczyńska Gospel presentsmodernization of imperative forms toward unification, reduction and avoiding homonymicconflict.
