Summary/Abstract: In this article, criminality is presented as a social problem, the essence of which is determined by the social nature of the causes of this pathology and the need for intervention and the application of social institutions to resolve it. Social policy is shown as an important tool for eliminating the causes of crime, as well as an instrument of the penitentiary and post-penitentiary measures, the importance of which is gaining strength in the transition from criminal justice to restorative justice. The article depicts specific forms of implementation of social policy in the Poland in the socialization of the punitive process (Community Courts), shaping of the sentence’s terms of execution (system of electronic supervision of convicts), and the offender’s integration into society (social employment).
