Summary/Abstract: Combining tertiary education with gainful employment becomes a more and more frequently observed phenomena in Poland. The aim of the paper was to identify the reasons for undertaking work during full-time studies. Most of all it concentrates on the recognition of the reasons for searching for job and on the specification of the crucial criteria to accept a specific job offer. Particularly, it was important to examine to what extent the choice was driven by the need to gain professional experience or by financial incentives. The problem was reflected in the surveys conducted in 2014 and 2015 over a section of students in the master’s degree full-time course in economics at the University of Economics in Katowice. The results of the survey prove that the main reason for job search was the need to receive income and the salary was vital by the choice of the set of the available job offers.
