Theoretical and practical aspects of sustainable tourism development in precious natural areas

Summary/Abstract: The aim of article is to show the current trends in the development of sustainable tourism and to indicate the best practices of economic, social and environmental objectives integration in this respect. Research methods were: the analysis of literature and international documents as well as case studies. The article presents the objectives and principles of sustainable tourism, resulting from international tourism policy. There were analysed conditions of tourism development in precious natural areas. Current development trends related to tourism were also described, such as the green economy, green innovation, socially responsible tourism. The article presents examples of the best practices relating to the key elements of tourism development in precious natural areas: effective planning, green innovation, involvement of local communities in protecting natural resources and monitoring visitors behaviour.
