Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is to evaluate the idea of the establishment of the parliament of mayors from the point of view of international economics. The author describes the most important aspects of discussed ideas, analyzes them based on the theory of international economic relations and assesses its usefulness in practice. Test method, used in the article is an analysis and criticism of scientific literature, based on a Polish translation of the Benjamin R. Barber’s book “If Maori Ruled the World. Disfunctional Nations, Risng Cities”. As a result of the evaluation, the author formulates the opinion that the parliament of mayors, in the form proposed by Barber, is not an appropriate body to address global issues of economic nature. However, the idea itselfs brings significant added value to the discussion on the shape of future global governance and should expand research on the concept of it on the potential role of cities in this area.
