Summary/Abstract: Adomas Jacovskis' stage designs for opera and ballet constitute one of the directions in his creative work. The present article is an attempt to draw a vague line between his works for drama and for musical theatre. Analysis of his work allows claiming that this line practically does not exist: if in the case of drama theatre the artist is more closely tied to the play's author and the artistic director, in opera and ballet the design for the most part depends on music, which dictates the conditions for every creator of the performance. Probably the most important feature - and the necessity - for the scenery of a musical performance is the planning of stage space, taking into account the specific features of the genre (opera or ballet).
