Summary/Abstract: The research aims at the analysis of life quality in Poland in comparison to other selected countries. Life quality is an abstract term, characterised by hundreds of factors. The criteria pertaining to the assessment of life quality are of measurable and unmeasurable, objective and subjective, relative and absolute, profitable and financial, material and spiritual, economic, social and political character. In the presented study the parameters referring to the average life expectancy, health and health care policy of the state have been selected as a criterion of the assessment of life quality. Life expectancy is one of the simplest and best indices characterising life quality. Any changes of social and economic welfare are immediately reflected in health condition and lifespan of people. Apart from life expectancy and health in general, the analysis has been also based on the following information: the number of doctors, nurses and hospital beds for a particular population, modern diagnostic appliances and medical treatment procedures, accessibility of innovative medicines and technically advanced medical equipment. The presented comparative analysis allows to state that the situation in Poland is worse than in other European and OECD countries. Medical services are offered at a much lower level than the level of economic development in Poland would suggest. The last section of the article presents some suggestions referring to the activities which could improve the situation of Polish patients.
