Summary/Abstract: The paper discusses the importance of spatial and visual imagination in the process of producing translations. Although visual aspects are usually associated with literary imaging, and hence teaching literary translation, they prove crucial in non‑literary translation as well, where the stress is traditionally put on terminological accuracy and research skills. Exercises requiring students to understand spatial relationships and visualize situations or objects illustrate the use of the skill. Pointing to analogies between literary and non‑literary translation, the paper encourages the integration of topics and task varieties between classes devoted to these two types of texts.
