Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the role of members of the Orthodox clergy in the Legionary Movement and the Cuzist parties (League of National-Christian Defence and National-Christian Party). It argues that despite a massive support for extreme right movements and parties, Romania did not develop a “clerical fascism”. Although cca one fourth of the Orthodox priests joined or supported far right movements, they were clearly underrepresented in higher party echelons.
