Summary/Abstract: The article analyses the main approaches to the distinguishing of the types of word-formation categories according to the nature of derivational semantics. The research aims to specify the idea of diversity of the types of word-formation categories and deepen the understanding of their linguistic nature. The author justifies the nominative rendering of transposition, and, taking into account the onomasiological nature of word-formation meaning, proves that it is groundless to distinguish a mixed type of word-formation categories.
