Summary/Abstract: This study argues that songs played an essential role in political mass mobilisation by the Legion Movement in Interwar Romania. Songs were not simple propaganda tools as in the case of comparable totalitarian movements in Interwar Europe. Leading ideologists of the Legionary Movement praised songs as the core element of the „Legionary creed”. The article analyses songs as expression of Legionary ideology and investigates socio-cultural practices of singing in the Legionary milieu.
