Summary/Abstract: Death is the central problem, or rather a mystery to the mind and thinking of Spanish (pre) existentialistMiguel de Unamuno, is a peculiar horizon, along which it flows and against which it alwayscrashes. Unamuno was deeply penetrated with fascination, sometimes even longing and horrorat the same time, in relation to misterium mortis as fascinosum et tremendum. He perceiveddeath in capax – possibility category as a gateway ‘towards’. Such a direction could be basicallyresolved into ultimate versions being performed in the death itself: into eternal life and immortalityas well as into annihilating nihility, which, in the present perspective, is un-definitive. One thing isfor sure : death is the space to give away the identity and truth of final sense, even if it turns out tobe nonsense. All or nothing, tertium non datur. So the only resort enabling the anticipation of suchfinality for your own sake is hope. And not the one, which dies last, but the one that never dies, even in death, though deprived of itself, or rather its ground basis.
