Tertullian’s Trinitarian Theology Based on Against Prakseas. Significance and Theological-Philosophical Perspective

Summary/Abstract: This paper is intended as an attempt at both the theological and philosophical vindication of one of the greatest thinkers of early Christianity who, undoubtedly was Tertullian, and the report is based on his theologically and philosophically significant achievements in considering the Trinity. The fact that Tertullian was mostly forgotten was largely due to non-substantial aspects, such as, for example the non-substantial approach of his interpretions. The rumour associated with his accession to the Montanist movement earned him enemies in the field of theology, which in turn, produced misunderstandings of his attitude to philosophy. As he was attributed to anti-philosophical views, his presence in the history of philosophy, or rather the awareness of such presence, was quite modest. On the other hand, such presence did not manifest any correspondence to Tertullian’s intentions. Niniejszy tekst jest w swym zamierzeniu próbą zarówno teologicznej, jak i filozoficznej rehabilitacji jednego z większych myślicieli wczesnego chrześcijaństwa, jakim bez wątpienia był Tertulian, w oparciu o jego dokonania o znaczeniu teologiczno-filozoficznym o zasięgu kulturowym na polu refleksji trynitarnej. Swoiste zapomnienie o Tertulianie spowodowane było w znacznej mierze względami pozamerytorycznymi, wskazującymi raczej niemerytoryczny charakter podejścia jego interpretatorów. Zawirowania związane z jego przystąpieniem do montanistów przysporzyły mu kolejno wrogów na polu teologicznym, z kolei powielane niezrozumienie jego stosunku wobec filozofii, a wręcz imputowanie mu antyfilozoficznych poglądów sprawiło, że jego obecność w dziejach filozofii, a raczej świadomość tejże obecności, z jednej strony była skromna, z drugiej zaś miała charakter wyraźnie nieodpowiadający jego zamierzeniom.
