Substantial moments in the administrative procedure for placement of persons under judicial disability in institutions for social services

Summary/Abstract: The Social Assistance Act is the first Bulgarian law which incorporates the principles from the UN Convention on the rights of persons with disabilities as regards to the personal exercise of rights and the respect of the will and preferences of people with disabilities in using social services. The amendments of the Social Assistance act introduce the principle of respecting the will of the person under guardianship when using social services and without requiring the consent of the trustee or the legal guardian.
