Summary/Abstract: Our work is actually a portrait of the first translator of the ionescian integral theater (Theatre, vol. IV, 1994 - 1998), an effort awarded by the Writers' Union (1999). A critic and a literary historian, essayist, translator, producer of television, Dan C. Mihăilescu favours, according to Al. Călinescu, the literature ontologically charged with myth and symbolism, with a fixed structure, i.e. a literature with layers and backgrounds, designed for a hermeneutical exploration. Dubbed "the man who brings the book" after the show he performs on channel Pro TV, he describes himself as a dual nature and confesses that he has had an audience since childhood, when following the idea of his teacher, he told stories to his classmates, despite stammering which he considered a long time as a handicap, or he imagined history movies that he had not seen before. He considers that people avoid sensitivity and beauty because it is much easier to destroy than to build, it is infinitely easier to kill than to give life. He is relentlessly against the stream. He thinks that his endeavor to preserve an unaltered professional ethics can be called a samurai ethics: the honour and the cost of living or an old soldierřs fatalism. He is considered the most persevering literary chronicler who constantly appears on television, the longest cultural broadcaster, his work being appreciated both by (TV) viewers and readers,and honoured with numerous awards.
