Summary/Abstract: This study focuses on the emergence and evolution of the cultural current of postmodernism. First of all, the relationship between postmodernism and postmodernity, the social and cultural background, will be considered, for an analysis of the changes that triggered the new paradigm. Then, the study will present the stages of development with an emphasis on some key concepts such as the new ontology, the new historicism, indetermination, and fluidization.
